Default Weapon nerfs and how it affected rit builds

Hi I just want to get insight of what you think of the current rit builds vs the old ones. In the past when WoW didnt end after an attack rits would often run some offensive skills which made their bars more fun to play. Right now in HA rits had to run triple weapons to compensate the ridiculous nerfs to weapon spells over the past few years. Im sure in GvG rits are also pulling the multi weapon pure defense builds. It ironic how nerfing a key defensive skill would make the builds to spec more overall defense and in return make rit builds more boring and 1 dimensional.

People don't run so much weapons on the rit because they got nerfed, they run them because so much damage got buffed, and rit damage skills got nerfed.

Channeled strike is the only option you have, and for this to work, you'dd need to sacrifice both a skill as a attribute points.

And you simply don't need said damage anymore, because Invoke, SH, Sins, Energy surge, mind blast and every other poop skills does enough damage for you to not need something on your rit.

I myself usually run a N/Rt support with Icy Veins, foul feast and then the rest of a regular rit bar, and it works surprisingly effective. Is it winning me matches? Probably not, but it feels good to know that 5 years later, I'm still the only guy trying out "other" stuff.

sometimes its just more clever to play builds that actually work better and are more effective than "other" stuff.

A primary Rt > A Nec/rt in nearly every point

But i agree with you that People should be more open to try new stuff and new builds.
(gotta love people who flame monks for running Mo/W without channeling)

Disagree here. I usually run it with 2 Invokes, 2 Axe warriors. Since it's a spike based build, I want all the extra spike damage I can get. Foul Feast is also beast at keeping your warriors clean in these days of bsurge pooping and contagionways. A N/Rt is so much more aggressive, I wins over a rit in my eyes...

Talking About a standard Balanced Build, all you need is a good midline + SH and 2 Wars. You dont need more Spikedamage, longer Weapons and more Partyheal is teh key.
You say Foul Feast, i say Draw Conditions on Infuse.

The first rits I remember seeing in balanced were like ALL offense...a-rage, splinter, SoH, smite hex, destruction, OoS and a low spec WoW. Then it slowly progressed to being defense after the a-rage / splinter nerfs, even more so after the changes to spawning power and weapon spells made it pointless to spec channeling for OoS over a large spawning spec with SC.

It's more than the weapon of warding nerf that changed this. The pot nerf made it unable to heal through all the buffed damage so you need recup, and to power that you need emanagement. Not needing spawning power also lets you spec into more things. Also, the key thing is that VoD is gone so there's no need for splinter (which is the best skill in the channeling line then). Channeled strike or whatever is just a damage filler since you already have high channeling anyway.

I would love to see the old weapon of warding brought back.

I mean the old one that had a 2 second cast.

anyone realise when people cry for something thing to be nerfed and it does then they cry about wanting the old shit back? i swear they've done more nerfs then buffs which is killing diversity which killed pvp, as someone said a rit has gone offense/defense to full defense, obviously balancing failed.

there was no doubt wow was overpowered, put that on a warrior and they can frenzy 24/7 and pump.

nerfing party heals over the years, pot lod hp and weapon durations really made rits have to play full defensive and on a primary role.

there really on a nerfing spree and lost track of balancing years ago

WoW was never nerfed cuz you could throw it on a warrior and pump 24/7. It was nerfed cuz back in the day it was the only weapon (combined with WoR/Xinrae's or even assassin/elite elites) on the bar cuz it lasted an hour and 1 rit with 14 resto could pretty much keep it on 2 people.

Even then, it only got nerfed cuz this skill alone was capable of keeping the intire base up. It feeded Wielder's Boon while giving a permanent +4/5 regen on NPC's.

Also, this skill defintly deserves some changes, as do many other ritskills. Splinter, for example, was never really overpowered. It was a strong skill, especially on a good team, but a "meh" skill on an average team. The only reason it was nerfed was because of VoD NPC farming, and since VoD is gone since a long time, this skill could've gotten reverted a long time ago...

There is tons of skills that could get rebuffed to their old state without necessarity introducing massive power creep. If they were to rebuff the intire channeling line in a similar way they buffed spirit burn (Can't create 8 man spikes, but individual skills do do reasonable pressure), stand rits might become viable again, and people would start running more offensive builds again... (Similar to '05, '06 and '07)

splinter was nerfed aswell because it was the main dmg in sway thumpers in ha not just vod

better balancing would have been splitting skills for dif formats but obviously they dont have enough resources

Its not nerfing that has hurt the game, its the powercreep.
